The Bible on Divination

     I cannot take credit for gathering or wording this piece. It came to
me by a gentleman by the name of Ambrose Hawke who is an
extraordinary author and voice in the magical community. I am not
sure if this was his original piece but passed to him. Regardless, it's
not mine, and I am not taking credit for it (except for two points), and
I'm not using it for financial gain but educational purposes only.

Bible Verses Regarding Divination ~

~ Gideon liked to “set a fleece before the Lord”. (Judges 6:36-40)
Gideon used this form of divination – and with God’s participation.

~ In Genesis, Joseph engaged in scrying. Genesis 44:5 reads: “Is
not this the one from which my lord drinks and with which he
practices divination? You have done evil in so doing (by stealing the
cup).” The cup that was stolen was the one Joseph used for
divination. Indeed, this is confirmed in Genesis 44:15 which reads,
“And Joseph said unto them, ‘What deed is this that ye have done?
What not that such a man as I can certainly divine?”

~ The Urim and Thummin are mentioned several times. Leviticus 8:
8, Numbers 27:21, Deuteronomy 33:8, 1 Samuel 28:6, Ezra 2:26-63.
In fact, 1 Samuel 28:6 reads, “And when Saul inquired of the Lord,
the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by the
prophets (who were “psychics”). This very verse suggests that God
was expected to have answered him in some way and likely by one of
these methods.

~ Many ‘kings’ spoken of in the Bible were actually magick men.

  ~ To decide that Matthias was also an apostle, the existing
disciples used divination to decide. They cast lots. (Acts 1:24-26)
What’s more, they prayed as they did so, and God answered their
query via divination.

~ In the New Testament, Joseph knew of Mary’s loyalty by an
intuitive dream. As predicted by the prophet of the Lord. (Matthew 1:
18-25) “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as His
mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she
was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph, her husband,
being a just man and not willing to make her a public example, was
minded to put her away (divorce) privily. But while he thought of
these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a
dream, saying, ‘Joseph, thou son of David,
fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife:
for that which is conceived in her is of
the Holy Spirit. And she shall bring
forth a Son, and thou shalt call His Name
Jesus: for He shall save His people from their sins.’ Now all this was
done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the
prophet saying, ‘Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring
forth a son, and they shall call His Name Emmanuel, which being
interpreted is, God with us.’ Then Joseph being raised from sleep did
as the angel of the Lord had bidden him and took unto him his wife:
And knew her not till she had brought forth her first born Son: and he
called His Name Jesus.

~ And the coming of the Savior, the Messiah, the Christ King was told
by the biggest, brightest Star in the sky . . . that is undoubtedly known
as astrology.

There are many more, but I’ve made my point. Divination is different
from fortune-telling and acceptable when communicating with God
for answers, advice and perspective.
